We asked a Culver City chef for her favorite
LA staycation spot: Barbra Streisand, Pierce Brosnan and Billy
Bob Thornton are fans of her market-driven dishes--and so
are we, since visiting AKASHA, Chef Akasha Richmond's restaurant
(don't miss her cocktail-style agua frescas). She recently
drove to Solvang and Los Olivos, and loved:
Global Gardens. "This
is a little country store: Theo Stephan makes her own olive
oil, vinegars and spreads, and you can do a tasting."

SUPERCHEF
“SuperChef” recently came to
visit and sampled our products. Their
recommendations for hostess gifts for the holidays are superb!
The Crunch on Small Biz
 CNBC
came to Los Olivos and talked to Theo about the problems she's
had with getting banks to loan funds to support the continued
growth of Global Gardens and the Olive Revolution.

Santa
Ynez Valley: Olive oils in Los Olivos
The September Sunset featured the
Global Gardens destination store:
"When she was growing up, Theo
Stephan was caught between two culinary traditions. There
was the 1960s-vintage American approach—her mother was
a devotee of Crisco and margarine. But her grandmother, a
native of Greece, was a true believer in olive oil. For just
about everything. On toast, in a walnut cake, and even as
medicine. Thankfully for those of us who love olive oil, it
was her grandmother’s sensibility that ultimately prevailed."

Medals!
We are very pleased to report that our Signature
Estate Mission Extra Virgin Olive Oil received a Gold Medal
in the prestigious 2008 Los Angeles International Olive Oil
Competition, and our Signature Estate Blend EVOO received

Theo Stephan - Leading a Culinary Revolution
in Los Olivos
The Spring 2008 edition of Wine &
Dine Santa Barbara featured Theo and the Global Gardens
Destination Store.
"Deep in the heart of the Santa
Barbara wine country is a different sort of tasting room.
Beautiful bottles showcase local as well as global harvests,
but you needn’t be 21 to sample at this Los Olivos stop.
That’s because Global Gardens doesn’t sell wine;
they sell olive oil and fruit-infused vinegars."

One Foodie's Obsession: Vinegar for Life
Theo wrote an article on the amazing properties
and culinary flexibility of fruit-infused vinegars in the
Fall edition of Wine & Dine Santa Barbara:
"...discover that all the cool
electronic kitchen widgets, stainless steel musthaves, Vikings,
Wolves and Kitchen-Aids don’t hold the most primitive
candle to… vinegars! Convince yourself even to pry away
from your tedious reliance on balsamic."
